Can your seals be rebuilt?
Yes, all of our seals can be rebuilt, except for current cartridge seals. The cost of the rebuild kit is usually 1/3 the price of a new seal, and is easy to install; giving the customer leak free service.
What is the purpose and benefit of purging the seals with air?
The CinchSeals® are purged with air, or if air isn’t available they can be purged with silicone grease. If grease is used, the customer must put in enough grease to fill the entire seal cavity. Continue to install grease until it is seen leaking out of the inboard and outboard seal faces. Grease must be periodically added to insure a higher and positive pressure inside the seal. We prefer the customer uses air, but understand it isn’t always an option. The air does 3 things for the seals.
First, it creates pressure to push the rotor against the stator and close the sliding interface to stop any material from going into or out of the screw conveyor.
Second, we tell people to set their air gauges 5 to 7 PSI higher than the vessel pressure, so that we have a higher pressure in the seal than outside of it, which creates an air barrier to help keep product out of the seal. And last, the air keeps the rotating seal faces cooler by reducing temperature caused by friction. This helps prolong the life of the seal as well. From our experience, customers usually get 1 to 2 time’s longer life out of their seals when they use air.
Can you seal powder products?
Yes, the seals were designed to seal powder, preventing lost product and eliminating shaft damage.
We are using packing on our mixer. Can we convert to your seal?
Yes, we would prefer that you remove the stuffing box, be sure the clearance over the shaft is no larger than 1/4″. If your clearance is larger you will need an adapter plate to close down the opening and adjust to the bolting pattern. An adapter plate can also accommodate for packing wear on the shaft by moving the seal further down the shaft.
Our mixer blend liquids and solids. Can you seal liquids?
Yes, we have sealed liquids, cleaning agents, and flush water.
Can your seal work on pumps?
We do not recommend our standard seals for pumps because of the pressure and speeds.
Our product is very corrosive, can you do other metals?
We have done alloy 20, hastelloy c. Please inquire.
We are an equipment manufacturer looking to improve our sealing devices. How can you help us?
Our design department will work closely with your engineers to determine an effective and economical seal design for your equipment. We have done private labeling, and also can establish special blanket contracts. The blanket contracts will give you just in time delivery lowering your inventory costs. Since the designs can be proprietary, your spare parts business is protected.
We have hot ash applications at 560°F; can your seal work there?
We must use an air purge! Please check the shaft temperature where the seal will be installed. If it is 560°F it will be too hot. If you are below 400°F then we would recommend the seal.
We would like to convert our equipment to CinchSeal. What support can you give us?
CinchSeal is supported thru-out North America by a representative network. We also work closely with the major distributions houses, Motion, Applied and Kaman. CinchSeal can provide factory support for installation and training for a reasonable fee.
